Bandol is a nice little seaside town. Here a large amount of people enjoy the summer. There are many good dining places in Bandol, and plenty of space to sit down on the promenade and feel the pulse of life.

Beaches

During the day the beach life is beeing cultivated. The beach Plage de Renecros located just west of downtown, is the finest and largest beach in the city. It is possible to rent sun beds, but most of the beach is open to everyone including those who do not want to rent sunbeds. In addition to Plage de Renecros there are several smaller beaches to the east and to the west of the city center. There are also opportunities for various water sports.

Ile de Bendor

Megalomaniacal Paul Ricard (the man behind the pastis brand Ricard) purchased in the 1950s the island of Ile de Bendor which is a few hundred meters outside Bandol. On this island, he created an idyllic small harbor, a liquor and wine museum and walking trails. There are also a few hotels on the island with great restaurants that are well worth a visit. On the island there are also plenty of opportunities for water sports. During high season there are boats sailing from the port of Bandol all day every fifteen minutes and less frequently ouside high season. See the island’s official website for more information.
