At the entrance of the Alps lies the small village Aups . With approximately 1000 inhabitants,  this is a traditional Provencal village. With good and affordable accommodation Aups is an excellent base to explore the nature reserves in the area – especially the Gorge du Verdon, which is a short drive away.

Most restaurants in the village are linked to hotels and they keep good level . The above Hotel Le Provencal is among the better ones , but also Auberge de la Tour serves excellent dinners.
