Gard is a relatively small department, with few inhabitants. The capital and biggest city is Nimes. With it’s roman arena and Pont du Gard (a part of the roman aquaduct) it is a popular tourist destiantion.  There is also a number of interesting smaller inland villages you can visit, such as Aiguèze and Uzès, and Cévennes National Park can showcase some wonderful nature.
